I see Munkustrap as a 'future leader.' He's strong, sensitive, caring, and when Old Deuteronomy isn't around, he looks after the Jellicle Junkyard. He takes care of the younger kittens, and he's the protector of the Tribe. He also is the Tribe's Storyteller. He sings The Battle Of The Peakes And The Pollicles to the Tribe just before the Ball.
